Wed, 16 January 2008 Rockypod's K7 number is pretty sketchy and is cutting in and out, plus if there are no calls in 30 days, it goes away. Luckily, Tee Morris of Morevi and Podcasting for Dummies (Hey, that's me!) got me a beta of Google's Grand Central to try out. It's pretty cool and goes to my home number or cellphone. So leave me a call. I will also be using this for Coffee and Tea Show, or you can just call me if you want to stalk me, regardless. If you hit the blue button over to the right under the Google Groups invite, you can have Grand Central call for free. I also have a very limited number of invitations for Grand Central, if you want one - first come first serve. ~Laura Category: blog post -- posted at: 2:08 PM Comments[69] |

Tue, 3 April 2007 ![]() Ludicrously Tragic
The sun bathed the top of the tent, protecting the people underneath. Red roses, red eyes, red noses. A sea of black and pastel. All here to pay respect. Flowing from the hearse like water from an open floodgate. One, two, twenty. Rhythmic squeaking alongside a long pine box. A box no one would be popping from. Such a happy life. No one knew monkeys were so mean, least of all Mr. Jingles. Category: blog post -- posted at: 12:12 PM Comments[4] |
Fri, 30 March 2007 The show's a little late because we didn't get it recorded last night due to work issues. We'll get it recorded tonight and hopefully it will be up Saturday sometime. I am FINALLY getting a new computer early next week and that should help with the turnaround speed (fan noise too!). So yeah. ~Laura Category: blog post -- posted at: 1:45 PM Comments[3] |
Fri, 2 March 2007 The Midnight Insanity Pirate Con in Long Beach, California's date has been changed to one week later--July 26-29--due to a scheduling conflict! Please make a note of it. Category: blog post -- posted at: 1:26 AM Comments[1] |
Thu, 22 February 2007 This week's show may have to be postponed. As you know, we record on Thursdays but Sean apparently has the flu. I'll call him after I get off work to find out what the status is, but right now he needs to rest. Stay tuned and wish him well! ~Laura Category: blog post -- posted at: 2:04 PM Comments[5] |
Mon, 22 January 2007 Gah. Gah.Two friends from MySpace emailed us to let us know they had left some voice mail for us on the old number and apparently it never got to us because that number was shut down. Why? Because of non-use. This is very distressing, because no telling how long that number has been inactive and yet we've been asking people to call it. And now we have that Creatures of the Abyss contest going on. If you can make up a rap or poem about Rockypod and want to leave it as a voicemail at (206) 888-4991, that would be fan-freakin'-tastic. We'll love you long time. ~Laura Category: blog post -- posted at: 12:16 AM Comments[2] |

Sun, 7 January 2007 ![]() First episode of the NEW Rocky Radio is up! Congratulations guys! You guys sound freakin' great!!!!!! I am impressed as hell! (It's very long so they broke it into three parts--right click and download). Also, like Rocky Horror Pod Show, bear in mind that this is probably not safe for work. Edit: Kim M., LISTEN TO THIS ONE!!!!!!!! They are totally spreading the love to you. Category: blog post -- posted at: 8:44 PM Comments[2] |
Thu, 21 December 2006 I know the show is late. Sean and I both have the Christmas Crud. We're recording tonight and we hope to make it up to you all by having special guests: the lovely and talented Kim McFarland, who is one of the best Franks evah, webmistress of Lambda Psi Phi website and cast leader of the defunct cast Lipsync, and the talented and lovely Rod Rombauer, long-time Uber-Brad and co-creator of the Rocky Horror Purity Test which you should go ahead and take. Send us your test scores. Kim and Rod are going to talk about the very real and deep meaning of Dance Dance Revolution. Hee! Category: blog post -- posted at: 5:02 PM Comments[4] |
Tue, 12 December 2006 The show's going to be a little late this week. Sean has a big final test on Wednesday so we decided it was important to let him study. We'll record on Thursday and I'll try very hard to get the show up and online by Friday night. I have a very good idea for the fantasy cast. Get your thinking caps on and play along with us when we announce it. ----------- One more thing, our cast (Lambda Psi Phi) had our annual Christmas dinner on Friday night, and then we made a group visit to our buddies on Atlanta's other Rocky cast, Lips Down On Dixie. They're a screen accurate cast. As you know, we're more of a parody cast so each cast teases the other incessantly. We did a lot of our AP and learned some of theirs. And we filled Plaza Theatre with massive amounts of toilet paper--the cleaning crew probably hated us. Jevocas, their Frank, also performs with us pretty often and he adapts pretty well to both styles of shadow cast. Candace, their MC, used to perform with us but hasn't been able to for a while. We're pretty lucky to live in a place with two casts that cooperatively perform on different weekend nights. ~Laura Category: blog post -- posted at: 1:14 PM Comments[2] |
Sat, 2 December 2006 Sacolton on YouTube posted a new version of Science Fiction/Double Feature, based on Richard O'Brien's original idea. It's an awesome labor of love. I particularly like the fact that the drippy letters weren't used--instead, a movie marquee-type font which was used on the movie soundtrack. I would like to see this used in an actual performance. I could see some really great AP lines based on the footage! ~Laura Category: blog post -- posted at: 4:52 PM Comments[3] |
Tue, 21 November 2006 Sean and I will be recording tomorrow night instead of tonight as Sean has a big paper due. I am a little concerned, because my family is leaving town Thursday morning to spend the night at my sister-in-laws in middle Georgia for Thanksgiving and we won't be back until Friday night. Therefore, the plan is to try to keep the show sort of short and get it online Wednesday night--I may have to pull an all-nighter and let my husband Dwight drive. Don't be shocked though if the show goes up Saturday, though. Arggggh!--self-imposed stress.... The good news is my power supply is in so the show should sound pretty good. Again, I apologize for the crappy quality of last week's show but it couldn't be helped. Fortunately few of you downloaded it, but I don't want this podcast series to be judged by that! Also, one of our listeners (Davey from Downhome Decadence of West Virginia) has let me know that he is starting another podcast. That is excellent! When he gets through the testing phase and has it ready to go live, we'll be sure to let everyone know! I'll have to change our tagline! It is just craziness that there wasn't a Rocky Horror podcast before we started this one. ~Laura Category: blog post -- posted at: 8:07 PM Comments[6] |
Mon, 20 November 2006 Saturday night we had a smallish but very appreciative audience. They were truly funny and played with the cast. I love it when they are like that. There were only two virgins there, which might have had something to do with it. I like to see no more than 10 virgins on any given show, because they are usually bewildered and overwhelmed and are not comfortable yet with AP. Too many of them causes a sense of repression in the show. I was playing Magenta and Wheeler was playing Columbia (originally he was Eddie and Cesar was Columbia but they transformed during Hot Patootie. You had to be there). Unfortunately Wheeler and I got a little carried away in the lesbian scene and his shoulder hit the candellabra, causing it to hit the concrete floor HARD and shatter. It can be fixed but it's going to take some dowels to hold it together, which will make it even MORE top heavy therefore more likely to tip over. I wonder if weights can be attached at the base, like I have on my mic stands. This would give whomever is playing Riff a workout of the arm muscles, so that would be awesome. ~Laura Category: blog post -- posted at: 8:06 AM Comments[6] |
Thu, 16 November 2006 I am so distressed about the last show. I hope we don't lose subscribers because it sounded so different and so much didn't get recorded. The iRiver's interface leaves much to be desired. What was missed? A child asking us to hold it down as she was working on her science fair project. Also the librarian kicking us out. Oh well. The good news is the Giant Squid mic worked really well, considering the bad situation. I wish I could have gotten bed music to hide so much rattling around, though. ---------------- My broken toe is doing much better and I am going to try to play Magenta again on Saturday night. Fri, 10 November 2006 ![]() My daughter Halley came up with her own version of the Muppet fantasy cast. I meant to put this in the last show but forgot. Yay Halley! Criminologist: Statler and Waldorf (the two critics)Dr. Scott: Sam the Eagle or Swedish Chef (for the accent) Rocky: Animal Frank: Swedish Chef? Janet: Janice (the musician)? Brad: Fozzie Bear or Link Hogthrob Eddie: Rowlf the Dog Columbia: Miss Piggy Magenta: Camilla the chicken Riff Raff: Gonzo Trannies: Gonzo's chickens or the rats ~Laura Category: blog post -- posted at: 11:43 PM Comments[4] |
Sun, 5 November 2006 As you may have gathered from our last podcast, Sean and I were to play with some of our cast Lambda Psi Phi at a special show at Kennesaw State University Saturday night. This was an awesome time. The audience was large--approximately 300 people showed up--and the last I heard we nearly sold out of prop bags. Much toilet paper was thrown all over the auditorium and a lot of folks dressed up. This was the first time I have ever performed RHPS on an actual theatrical stage and we weren't blocked for that much staging area real estate. The lights were low in the back so that the movie could be projected there and Rod, who was doing photography, complained that people needed to play more toward the front of the stage to take advantage of overhead lights. But we were all so used to almost touching the screen that it was hard moving outwards. We had the bare minimums in props, basically what had been saved from when our old theater closed from when our cast was performing at two different movie theaters at the same time(!). Those props had been stored in our cast leader's attic for three years and then when I brought them in they smelled like dead animals so I sprayed them with Febreez and then washed them! We had one space suit which I wore as Magenta (with a banged-up foot and a walking cane). Sean brought a Space Ghost suit for Jason, who was playing Riff, to wear in the space suit scene. No Eddie stuff. Two floor showish pieces of lingerie. I brought my Riff jacket for Jason. I brought my Playtex gloves for Jessie, who was Frank. Eyepatch Josh brought his late grandmother's wheelchair. We had a great canvas laundry tank which had been stored in a rehearsal theater. Sean fit inside as Rocky and also he and Renee, who was playing Janet, easily fit inside. It rolled easily and we kept acting like we were going to push it off the stage just to freak Sean out (didn't work). Afterwards, Sean, Jeanne, Jason, Rod and I went to Marietta Diner, where we used to go back in the Blackwell and then the Marietta Star days. The floor manager who tried to throw us all out once and whom we called Lurch still worked there. Good times. ------------------ We're still interested in setting up phone interviews. If you'd like for us to call you, let us know your phone number and when we can reach you. It's really fun. Just email the information--rockypod at aim.com. Sat, 4 November 2006 Sean and I both work in the same photolab with our castleader Laurie, as you may or may not know. On Wednesday, I was struggling to open and load a new roll of 24" paper and clumsily dropped it on my foot, which was clad in cotton kung fu shoes. I think I broke my toe. At any rate, it has the appearance of the discolored and bloated foot of a drowning victim. It hurts like hell, but I am now able to put some weight on it. I have been keeping it wrapped, icing it and using my daughter's crutches from when she tore a ligament last spring. I am going to play Magenta tonight at a special show at Kennesaw University. Should be interesting. I may send my dear husband out to buy a walking cane, because crutches are so clumsy. Whatever you do, don't tell me to break a leg! ~Laura Category: blog post -- posted at: 1:08 PM Comments[2] |
Thu, 2 November 2006 We are now recording our shows on Tuesdays due to Sean's school schedule and it's a lot easier to get the shows out before our deadline, which is Friday mornings, eastern time. Our goal each week is to have a show up before the Rocky showings on Friday nights, although for other parts of the world we may not make it in time! Having the Tuesday recordings helps so much. Does anyone have any show topics or discussions we haven't yet covered? Are any events coming up that you'd like us to contact you about? Do you have a podcast and want to share promos with us? Do you know anyone who we should interview or should we interview you? Please let us know in the comments or through email at rockypod -@- aim.com (remove the dashes and spaces). Thanks!
