Fri, 29 December 2006 Our multi-talented friend Jevocas (the Frank from Lips Down on Dixie and sometimes Lambda Psi Phi) is Assistant Director on the latest Atlanta incarnation of the stage show Richard O'Brien's Rocky Horror Show which will be presented in February. We'll tell you more information as it becomes available to us.However, from January 9-21, Seattle will also have the Rocky Horror Show performed at The Ethnic Cultural Theatre, 3940 Brooklyn Ave. Seattle, WA 38105 with shows starting at 8:00. You can order tickets here. Our topic of the night is Rocky Resolutions. We discuss what we want to do in terms of Rocky Horror in the coming year. If you have anything to add, please email us or leave us a message on our voice email (206-DEW-TOOT or 206-339-8668) and we'll play it on the next show. Jeanne and Laura have a cough-y break. We tell bad jokes. You might want to fast-forward. Our fantasy cast tonight is Saturday Night Live characters. Laura is very proud of this cast idea. Play along with us. Sean tells a story about his friend Jason who doesn't like the Tang. Our cult movie is Happy Feet, which is still in the theaters. We know we are pawns of environmentalists, but we all rather loved the movie. It was surprisingly well-animated, poignant and had great action sequences. See it. Squeeee! Laura wants to stop dissing Liza Minelli and wants to have her on the show. Laura also wants to start dissing Jamie Lee Curtis, although Sean says no because she was in Halloween. Comments[5] |
Fri, 22 December 2006 The ABC reality series Wife Swap is looking for a performing Rocky Horror family with at least one child between the ages of 7 and 17 who lives at home. Pay is $20,000 for the participating family and $1000 for the person who refers them. If this is something you'd be interested in, here's the contact info, for what it's worth: Kirstin Dodich, Casting Producer, ABC Television Wife Swap RDF USA, 440 9th Avenue, 11th Floor, New York, NY 10001 tel. + 1 212 404 1418| fax. + 1 212 404 1423 kirstin.dod...@rdfusa.com | www.rdfusa.com We have special guests tonight: longtime Rocky peeps Kim McFarland, who is a fantastic Frank, who was cast leader of old cast Lipsync and who runs the Lambda Psi Phi website and Rod Rombauer, super Brad/Dr. Scott/Eddie, who ran the old Timewarp BBS and co-writer (with Janel Adair) of the Rocky Horror Purity Test and who is "internet famous." Cosmo and Nathan, who did Rocky Radio, the wildly-popular Rocky Horror-oriented internet show from the late 90s, are working on having their show available again for download. When we find out more about this, we'll let you know. Nobody is more excited about this than we are. We've always wanted to hear it, and maybe Cosmo and Nathan can be persuaded to create a new podcast? Hint, hint. EDIT: a search on Technorati shows that they are indeed back online thanks to Nathan Summers. We offer our heartiest congratulations. Check them out! Sean has a troll with purple hair from a McDonald's Happy Meal. Rod is surprised about how we never stay on-topic but he's never listened to a Rockypod show before. Tonight's topic is awesome audiences we have known. All four of us tell stories. Movie review: A Christmas Story. We also mention the new Cingular Go-Phone commercial, which you should see. Sean's girlfriend Jeanne, who is hanging around, does not like this movie, though. Sean mentions his favorite Christmas tv show, The Year Without A Santa Claus. This leads us to our fantasy cast: Rankin-Bass characters. Kim and Rod tell their favorite AP lines. Comments[5] |
Thu, 21 December 2006 I know the show is late. Sean and I both have the Christmas Crud. We're recording tonight and we hope to make it up to you all by having special guests: the lovely and talented Kim McFarland, who is one of the best Franks evah, webmistress of Lambda Psi Phi website and cast leader of the defunct cast Lipsync, and the talented and lovely Rod Rombauer, long-time Uber-Brad and co-creator of the Rocky Horror Purity Test which you should go ahead and take. Send us your test scores. Kim and Rod are going to talk about the very real and deep meaning of Dance Dance Revolution. Hee! Category: blog post -- posted at: 5:02 PM Comments[4] |
Fri, 15 December 2006 Voicemail: 206-DEW-TOOTSorry this show was late going up. Sean had finals to study for and take and it just couldn't be helped. Tonight's show is pretty short since it is Christmas season and we're both exhausted from work, but we'll make it up by playing part of the Lips Down On Dixie preshow, which is the other Rocky shadowcast here in Atlanta (we're in the Lambda Psi Phi cast). Cosmos Factory just celebrated their 13th anniversary as a website. Congratulations! It is the definitive Rocky Horror site. We think possibly Cosmos Factory one of the first sites on the World Wide Web. We discuss early internet sections. We remember the website that showed a camera image of a coffee pot and also JenniCam. You can find Laura's other podcast The Coffee and Tea Show if you Google "Crush Penis Torture" (fourth one down!). We are going to put in phrases like "barely legal," "donkey show" and "old titties" into our metatags to see what sort of hits we get. Last Friday was our cast Christmas party and then we went to see Lips Down on Dixie perform. Our fantasy cast, per the request of Maia from MySpace, is Star Wars. I know. Easy-peasy. Shut up. AP Line of the week. Our cult movie of the week is How The Grinch Stole Christmas, not the stupid live-action one with Jim Carrey, but the cartoon. It sucks when cartoons are turned live action. Next week we are going to review A Christmas Story. Finally, the recording of Lips Down on Dixie's preshow at Plaza Theatre in Midtown Atlanta, where you can hear Candace the MC and Jevocas the Frank for the evening. I was toward the back of the theater so you can hear AP all around me. ~Laura Comments[13] |
Tue, 12 December 2006 The show's going to be a little late this week. Sean has a big final test on Wednesday so we decided it was important to let him study. We'll record on Thursday and I'll try very hard to get the show up and online by Friday night. I have a very good idea for the fantasy cast. Get your thinking caps on and play along with us when we announce it. ----------- One more thing, our cast (Lambda Psi Phi) had our annual Christmas dinner on Friday night, and then we made a group visit to our buddies on Atlanta's other Rocky cast, Lips Down On Dixie. They're a screen accurate cast. As you know, we're more of a parody cast so each cast teases the other incessantly. We did a lot of our AP and learned some of theirs. And we filled Plaza Theatre with massive amounts of toilet paper--the cleaning crew probably hated us. Jevocas, their Frank, also performs with us pretty often and he adapts pretty well to both styles of shadow cast. Candace, their MC, used to perform with us but hasn't been able to for a while. We're pretty lucky to live in a place with two casts that cooperatively perform on different weekend nights. ~Laura Category: blog post -- posted at: 1:14 PM Comments[2] |
Wed, 6 December 2006 Voice mail: 206-DEW-TOOTWe are not Cheryl's Whorehole. We are Rocky Horror Pod Show. Laura found an interesting site: Rocky Wiki. Megan from MySpace (check out her shirt on our MySpace page!) tells us that someone has posted Richard O'Brien's home address on the mail. He is refusing to answer fan mail that arrives at his house and will only answer mail that came to him through the fan clubs. A story about fake million dollar bills. Pirates of the Carribean Dead Man's Chest came out on DVD. Today we won't discuss cast issues. A discussion about the character of Magenta. Laura finds her very mysterious and doesn't understand her motives. Sean thinks she's just along for the ride. Why are lasers shaped like that? Laura shocks Sean with awesome political incorrectness. "Special effects" in Laura's house. Fantasy cast: Star Trek, first series characters but if necessary we will use characters from Next Generation. We tell jokes. ::sigh:: Disgusting clip of girl having accident in hot tub. Cult movie review: Fight Club. Meatloaf was in it. Sean's girlfriend got mauled by a dog. Laura's younger daughter took part in a social science fair. Her project was about learning to be a vegetarian (Actually it's her life goal, but she's having a problem giving up Chik-fil-A). We had more news but we lost it on stupid MySpace, which caused Sean to go on a very long rant about MySpace frustrations. Comments[5] |
Sat, 2 December 2006 Sacolton on YouTube posted a new version of Science Fiction/Double Feature, based on Richard O'Brien's original idea. It's an awesome labor of love. I particularly like the fact that the drippy letters weren't used--instead, a movie marquee-type font which was used on the movie soundtrack. I would like to see this used in an actual performance. I could see some really great AP lines based on the footage! ~Laura Category: blog post -- posted at: 4:52 PM Comments[3] |
